We Care About The Environment

Since purchasing the land in 1984, we have been mindful of our farming practices and water usage. As our business continues to grows, we have focused our efforts on achieving environmental sustainability in every area of our company, from the vineyards and winemaking facilities to the kitchens and offices.

1984

The vineyards are purchased, and we began the tradition of responsible farming practices and water usage.

2003

Ponte Winery opens its doors, and makes recycling and conservation a priority.

2007

We begin the transition to become a sustainable winery by reducing our environmental footprint.

2011

We achieve the Certified California Sustainable Winegrower (CCSW) designation, the first winery to do so in Temecula Wine Country.

Today

Every year since 2011, we have continued to meet the ever-expanding requirements to maintain our Certified California Sustainable Winegrowing designation.

Vineyards

Sustainability and the Ponte farming mentality go hand in hand: Thriftiness, efficiency and respect for the land make up the foundation of our viticulture practices.

Using compost to return beneficial organic material to the soil, installing hawk and owl nesting boxes to promote natural pest control and practicing responsible watering, plowing and harvest methods are just a few measures we take to ensure we remain great stewards of the land.

Winemaking

We take into consideration the environmental impact of our entire winemaking process. Reducing waste production, limiting our water and electricity use, and seeking out recycled packaging materials has helped reduce our environmental footprint.

Tasting Room

We continue to reduce our environmental impact in the Tasting Room through the use of natural light, recycling glass and cardboard, and incentivizing our guests to go green with us through our “Wine Bottle Recycling Program”.

Restaurant

The Restaurant at Ponte is committed to sustainable and environmentally-friendly practices. By growing and locally sourcing our produce, supporting Southern Californian ranchers by serving all natural, hormone-free meat and game, and seeking out wild-caught or sustainably-farmed seafood, we continue to provide a responsible, “Farm to Table” dining experience.

What You Can Do

A company like ours can make a large environmental impact by asking our guests and associates to join us in our sustainability efforts. Follow these simple tips and together we can make a difference!

  • Take reusable bags when shopping.
  • Replace all incandescent bulbs in your home with compact florescent lighting.
  • Use eco-friendly cleaning supplies and products.
  • Recycle all glass, plastic, tin, aluminum and paper products. You can get involved today by bringing in your empty Ponte wine bottles to recycle. We’ll even give you a coupon to use on your next wine purchase!
  • Conserve electricity by turning lights and electronics off when not in use.
  • Conserve water by taking shorter showers, installing low-flow toilets and shower-heads and limiting outdoor irrigation.

We Care About The Community

Since opening our doors in 2003, we have made a commitment to do everything in our power to help children in need in the Temecula area. Through the efforts of the entire Ponte Winery and Vineyard Inn family, we hope to make a lasting impression in our community.

For over a decade we have focused our charitable giving on the deserving institutions below. We hope you will join us in supporting these life-changing, charitable organizations.
